10 Month Update

Daily trials and tribulations my butt. I've been neglectful of my loverly attempt to begin blogging.

Update: I'm down about 15 pounds, I still suck at going to the gym, and I'm on a new, healthy nutrition regimen where I eat lots of protein and veggies and very few carbs. I'm trying to keep at about 1200-1500 calories a day, and I'm losing about 1.5 lbs a week. If I were working out like I should, I could probably pump up that number, so I'm working on it.

I learned that taking a multivitamin (or a complex vitamin regimen...I know, I love that word) is a good thing to do, whether you're dieting or not. So do it.

Next update in a couple months, I'll bet. I have my 25th birthday in June (yikes) and one of my good friend's is getting married in October, so I have a lot of "special event" motivation fueling my efforts...

Getting Started

My road to weight loss has been filled with just about every bump, detour, and construction block possible. No more. I don't care what it takes, but I need to lose weight, and it needs to start now.

I've always been a bit on the heavy side. My build isn't meant to be a 4, but if I could be a size 10/12 I would be in awesome shape. I was a size 12 in high school, a 14/16 in college, and now, two years after college, am sitting at a 16/18. I need to lose about 60-80 pounds, and I'm going to need some encouragement on my journey.

Here I'll be posting my daily trials and tribulations--what I find is working, and what isn't. I know that diet & exercise is the only way I can shed the weight for good, so that's what I'll be doing (and trying all sorts of combinations of the two) to move the numbers on the scale and my clothes.

I'm posting this here for all to see. Information sharing is appreciated, encouragement even more so. I'll be posting pictures along the way so that I can look back and feel like I've accomplished something (in the event that I'm feeling like the dark valley is never ending). I welcome others to join me in this journey to a healthier life--we have only ourselves to blame for either failure or success.

So who's with me?
